On the Beach (1957) by Nevil Shute is a post-apocalyptic novel set in Melbourne, Australia, following a nuclear war that has destroyed the Northern Hemisphere.
As deadly radiation drifts south, characters face inevitable death with quiet dignity, engaging in daily routines, relationships, and acceptance of their fate.
Adapted for the stage by Tommy Murphy, commissioned by the Sydney Theatre Company, On The Beach the Play had its first performances in October 2023 and this is the first performance of the work since then.
A story of love, courage, commitment and hope! A story not to be missed.
Directed by Douglass Doherty
